It’s a little Pony that works like a Draft Horse! Its COLD in here! – I have to say, I am no stranger to window units. I had 2 in my last house to help out the old central a/c and they had all the remotes and digital thermostat settings etc. etc. One was 5000btu (That I paid 99.00 for new 4 years ago) like this one but did not nearly put out the FAST cold like this little work horse does, even if you set it down to 65. Now I have only had for 2 days, so if anything changes I will be back to edit, but so far;

replaced an old GE unit – I had an old GE unit from the early 70s. It weighs about 6 tons and putting it in and taking it out was a nightmare. The unit still worked, but my daughter wanted one for their 3rd floor in their new house (only run once in a while). I GLADLY gave it up and got something that I could manage as I get up there in years. I have installed window AC units in so many different windows over the years that I really didn’t even need the instructions. This installed straight forward. As typical for these cheaper units the window accordion screens stink. Why they can’t have a better track system is beyond me. THey always flare out at the bottom and we always need to tape up the lower portion to prevent air and insect issues. When I first turned it on it stunk like dead mouse (ok not that bad, but still pretty gross). THe smell went away after 5 minutes. THe air is cold, the fan works and my lights no longer dim when the compressor comes on. Unit is quiet and works well. THere is no remote control (don’t need or want one) and no temp sensor. THis is a basic AC unit (want it colder- turn the dial) and it does what it is supposed to do (make a room comfortable). I can’t be bothered with all those bells and whistles as we only need this for a couple months, and I only run it when the room gets too warm (usually only in the afternoon, as this room is on the western corner of the house and is well shaded all day). If you are looking for and easy to install basic AC, then this will do what you want(the room it is in is 18’x16 so only around 300 SQ.ft.
