Buying for heat, things I wish I would have known – Love it! – Let’s cut to the chase, This was a great buy for what I need and much cheaper to run in my area than the propane furnace. It’s not without its quirks but once you figure them out it should work well. This review is primarily for heat in a northern climate, which if you are considering this I think I have some important input into your buying decision. In short, if I were to do this over again I would have bought a different model, however I feel that ‘as is’ I did very well with it.

– This unit worked great. Wiring was a bit tricky as the the colors in the manual didn’t match with the colors of the cable provided. As long as you ensure terminal 1, 2, 3 on the indoor unit go to terminal 1, 2, 3 on the outdoor unit it will be fine. Also the manual shows you how to cut the pipes – I suggest just leaving the pipes the 16 ft and coil them up at the outdoor unit – a lot easier. Unit has been working great in Nova Scotia Canada for the last few months. Maybe minus 12 deg C at night. It cost about $1 a day to run in electricity at $15 C/Kilowatt Hour.

No more cold/hot shop to work in! – I purchased this (9,000 btu) unit to install in a small workshop (12’x24′) because my biggest hold up has always been that it’s either to hot or to cold when I want to go work on anything in my workshop. So, I fixed the problem. We haven’t had to run it much in cooling mode yet but in heating it has knocked it has knocked it out of the park! I did the mounting and pulling the wiring myself. I got it down to the refrigerant line hook ups and final wiring hookups. I felt I could have done this myself but I didn’t want to buy the vacuum pump I’d only use once and let it set on a shelf. So to make sure my warranty would be active and not have to buy equipment I would only need once, I had a local HVAC company do the final hook up. Took them about 3 hours to connect the lines, pressure test them with nitrogen, then pull the vacuum and release the Freon before flipping the switch and starting to heat my little shop up where it has maintained a wonderful 70 degrees ever since! I would highly recommend this unit BUT PAY ATTENTION TO THE WARRANTY REQUIREMENTS. It was worth the money to have the experts finish the install to ensure I had a warranty from Senville.
